he ERRH Inter-Departmental Football Tournament for 2025 began on April 7 and concluded today, nearly a month later, with a thrilling final match. A total of seven teams participated in this year’s tournament, with the final played between the OPD and Nursing departments. The final match was graced by the presence of two Hospital Lams.

In a tightly contested match that showcased the equal strength of both teams, OPD emerged victorious by scoring the lone goal of the game. The winning team took home a cash prize of Nu. 30,000 while the runners-up received Nu. 22,500 along with trophies. There were cash prizes for the match officials, highest goal scorer, man of the match and best goalkeeper.
The tournament was organized with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle among healthcare staff and public encouraging physical activity to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and inspiring health workers to lead by example.
This year’s tournament was coordinated by Mr. Chundu Tshering who expressed sincere gratitude to Mongar Sports Association, Hospital Administration, Sponsors and all individuals involved in making the tournament conclude successfully.
The ERRH Inter-Departmental Football Tournament was first held in 2011, when the final match was played between the Nursing and Laboratory departments. That match ended in a draw even after extra time and a full round of penalty kicks by all 11 players. Nursing was eventually declared the winner by a coin toss.
