As part of the buildup program for the upcoming International Nurses Day, a poster presentation competition was organized among the IPD wards at ERRH today.

A total of eight wards participated, each preparing and delivering brief presentations on their respective posters.
The program was graced by the presence of the Officiating Medical Superintendent, the Deputy Chief ADMO. In his opening remarks, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all nurses for their invaluable contributions to healthcare delivery and the overall health system. He also encouraged them to continue their dedicated service for the betterment of humanity.
Four judges were assigned to assess the poster presentations. The entries were centered around this year’s international theme: “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies”. The posters highlighted common themes such as the importance of care, professional support, and systemic improvements in addressing the ongoing nursing shortage in the country.
Key solutions presented included the need for professional development opportunities, career advancement pathways, enhanced professional respect and dignity, access to adequate tools and infrastructure, workplace safety and security, and fair compensation for additional work. In contrast, the posters also shed light on the current challenges of the nursing profession, particularly the issue of brain drain, increased workload for remaining nurses with increasing attrition etc.
The event was attended by HODs, doctors, and fellow nurses, fostering a spirit of collaboration and recognition for nursing excellence. This poster competition not only served as a platform for creative expression by our nurses given the opportunity but also reinforced the critical role nurses play in strengthening the healthcare system.
The Nursing Superintendent was pivotal in making this first of its kind program successful. The winners will bag a cash prize on International Nurses Day on 12th May.
