In a historic milestone, the Eastern Regional Referral Hospital (ERRH) and Apollo Bhutan Institute of Nursing (ABIN) Apollo Bhutan Institute of Nursing signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to facilitate the posting of student nurses for clinical practice.

ERRH, one of the teaching hospitals identified by the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), has long hosted resident doctors, intern doctors, and student nurses from the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health (FNPH) and Arura Academy of Health Sciences. The addition of ABIN to this list further underscores the pivotal role ERRH plays in training and nurturing future healthcare professionals, especially in light of the critical shortage of skilled nurses in the country.
Clinical postings form a vital part of nursing education, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world patient care, develop critical thinking skills, and build confidence in handling diverse clinical situations. Under the supervision and mentorship of experienced healthcare professionals, student nurses learn essential competencies such as patient assessment, care planning, infection control, communication, and teamwork, skills that are fundamental for safe and effective nursing practice.
ERRH remains committed to ensuring not only the provision of quality clinical guidance and supervision but also the overall welfare and safety of the students during their posting. The first batch of final-year nursing students from ABIN is expected to begin their clinical placement in the coming weeks. Both ERRH and ABIN look forward to a long and fruitful collaboration, working together to strengthen the nursing workforce and improve healthcare services in the country.
